The Badagry Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BACCIMA) has recorded another major milestone in its drive to unlock the vast economic potentials of the Badagry division axislast Tuesday, following a successful courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment(MCCTI) , Mrs Folasade Bada Ambrose.

The BACCIMA delegation, led by the President, Alhaji Yahaya Oladiran Idris was warmly received on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner, by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Babatunde Onigbanjo, who expressed the Ministry’s appreciation for the Chamber’s proactive efforts toward private-sector development and regional trade expansion.
Before the commencement of the meeting, the Permanent Secretary, call for a minute silence for the repose of the soul of Late De Wheno Whole Menu Toyi 1, Akran of Badagry.

Thereafter, BACCIMA formally presented its plans for the Maiden BACCIMA International Trade Fair, scheduled to hold from May 8 to 17, 2026, at the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex with the Theme: “Trading Without Borders: Empowering Businesses for Regional and Global Markets,”
The initiative was positioned as a strategic platform to promote SMEs, attract investment, deepen cross-border trade, and reposition Badagry as a major commercial and logistics hub.

In his response, the Permanent Secretary conveyed the Ministry’s full endorsement and support for the Trade Fair initiative. Notably, the Ministry agreed to work closely with BACCIMA through the setting up of a Joint Technical Committee, aimed at ensuring the successful planning and execution of the Trade Fair, while also developing broader strategies to unlock and harness the economic opportunities across the Badagry corridor

Speaking during the visit, the President reaffirmed BACCIMA’s commitment to working hand-in-hand with government and key stakeholders to stimulate trade, empower local businesses, and drive sustainable economic growth within the Badagry axis and beyond.

The engagement marks a significant step forward in BACCIMA’s preparations for its maiden International Trade Fair and further underscores the growing synergy between the Chamber and the Lagos State Government in advancing commerce, investment, and inclusive economic development.
