The Badagry Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture (BACCIMA) proudly joined leading stakeholders in West Africa’s agricultural and trade ecosystem at the official Launch of NACCIMA’s Activities under the ECOWAS Agricultural Trade (EAT) Project—a transformative initiative poised to strengthen food systems, improve market access, and accelerate regional integration across the ECOWAS sub-region.
The event highlighted a new era of collaboration aimed at boosting agricultural productivity, supporting value-chain actors, and improving cross-border trade for millions of West African farmers and agribusinesses.

NACCIMA Takes the Lead as Implementing Organization
The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture (NACCIMA) has been designated as the implementing organisation for the EAT Project in Nigeria.
Supported by GIZ, the project seeks to:
- Facilitate seamless movement of agricultural goods across ECOWAS borders
- Enhance food security and supply chain resilience
- Strengthen farmer cooperatives and agribusiness competitiveness
- Promote harmonized trade standards
- Create sustainable market opportunities for smallholder farmers
As an affiliate Chamber under NACCIMA, BACCIMA’s participation underscores its commitment to supporting agricultural development and empowering businesses along the Badagry–Seme corridor, a key gateway for regional trade.
After this launch,the next phase would be the training of 80MSME in Lagos and 70 in Kano making 150 in total.
These will be selected based on recommendations from NACCIMA, WWCIMA and other bodies.
50% will be women, 40% will be youths And 10% would be general.
The training would be a 4 day program launching in February for Lagos.

The ceremony brought together distinguished leaders from international organizations, trade institutions, and the private sector, including:

- Mr. Arne Schuffenhauver – Program Lead, GIZ–EAT Program
Their presence reinforced a shared commitment to unlocking the full potential of agricultural trade within the ECOWAS region.

Why the EAT Project Matters to Badagry and BACCIMA Members
As a major ECOWAS border community, Badagry stands to benefit greatly from the EAT programme. The initiative aligns with BACCIMA’s long-term advocacy for:
- Formalization of cross-border agricultural trade
- Market access improvement for SMEs and agro-exporters
- Capacity strengthening for farmers, processors, and traders
- Reduced border delays and non-tariff barriers
- Enhanced competitiveness of local agricultural products
BACCIMA will work closely with NACCIMA, GIZ, and relevant agencies to ensure that Badagry’s agribusiness ecosystem is fully integrated into this regional programme.
