The Badagry Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (BACCIMA) on Wednesday, led by the President, Alhaji Yahaya Oladiran Idris paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, at the Local Government Secretariat.
In his opening address, he congratulated the Chairman on his victory at the last local Government Council elections.
“Sir, on behalf of BACCIMA, I congratulate you on your Election as the Executive Chairman of BLGC. Your Election has shown that you are a progressive Politician, who enjoys service to his Community”
He also used the visit to say a “big thank you to BLGC & your predecessor in office, Hon Adeniran Teliat Onilude for releasing a room accommodation to BACCIMA and the use of BLG Chamber when it matters most”
The President briefed the Chairman and his team on the aims and objectives of the Chamber amongst other
(1) Protection of the interests of Members and the wider business Community in Badagry Division
(2) Ensuring that Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Industry thrive along LAGOS -ABIDJAN CORRIDOR.
(3)Engaging and Advising all levels of government and her agencies on matters that affects trade, Commerce, mining, Tourism and Agriculture.
(4) Sentizising business and Community institutions on the abundant economic potentials of Badagry Division.
He also informed the house on the various achievements of the Chamber since her establishment in 2017 both on trade facilitation/ ease of doing business and advocacy.
The visit was marked by fruitful discussions on economic collaboration.
The discussions also touched on key developmental issues such as the Badagry Deep Sea Port, youth engagement in economic ventures, facilitation of cross-border trade and its formalization the ease of doing business within the Badagry Division axis and beyond. The engagement underscored the shared vision of both the Local Government and BACCIMA to create sustainable opportunities for businesses, while fostering prosperity for the people of Badagry.
The visit not only reinforced BACCIMA’s role as a catalyst for business growth but also highlighted the Chamber’s commitment to building bridges with government institutions in driving trade and investment in the region in consonants with the aims and objectives of African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreements
In his remarks, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe welcomed the delegation warmly and emphasized the importance of strong partnerships between the Local Government and BACCIMA. He assured the Chamber of his administration’s willingness to collaborate, particularly in the areas of investment, youth empowerment, capacity building, Tourism and Cross-border trade. The Chairman further encouraged BACCIMA to actively identify and attract investors willing to channel their resources into Badagry’s economy, stressing that such efforts will significantly contribute to the Local Government growth and development. He promised the support of his administration for such ventures.
The BACCIMA delegation included the First Deputy President, Mr. Ashamu Fadipe; the Director General, Mr. Senu Seton; the Director of IT, Mr. Whenu Adagba; Elder’s Advisory Council Member, Mr. Eugene Ihezeonu; Mrs. Akoro, Mr Jamaal, Alhaji Dele Azeez, and several other esteemed members of the Chamber.
